I never quite understood why people used New Years as a milestone to make a resolution, realistically theres 365 days in a year that you can choose from. If you want to make a change in your life then just get on and do it.
Hypocritically I am using this milestone to reboot my blog, and share with you my journey through education, work and day to day life. This particular blog I suppose you could call a tribute to the lessons i’ve learnt over the previous year – and believe me, it has been a roller coaster.
Firstly I have been presented with many opportunities this year, which I have proudly taken. The opportunity to work within a growing design company has given me the skills to think in a higher level of detail when handling tasks than ever before, as well as improving my communication skills and taking me out of my comfort zone; as well as organising trade shows and travelling to different cities to represent my company.
Most importantly I have learnt a lot about time… and I do not mean ensuring essay’s, coursework, and deadlines at work! I am talking about those moments when you sit and think to yourself, I have nothing to do. Time is precious, what you do with it is completely up to you, the truth is people spend a lot of time wandering what they should do next and end up doing nothing, This year I have wasted a lot of time thinking about situations and not enough time acting on them… but it’s when you do act that you are the most happiest. Towards the end of the year I began a charity project, dedicating a lot of time helping raise money for charity, more time that I had… but it didn’t matter – It was great to know I had used my time wisely to help others. If more people can get off the sofa and do something worthwhile then the world would truly be a better place!
So if I were to have a resolution… It would be not to waste a second, because you never know how valuable that second could be…
Happy New Year!
